Kansas Republican lawmakers, lobbyists banned from restaurant for being too drunk, loud
A group of Republican state lawmakers and several lobbyists were asked to leave the popular Topeka, Kansas restaurant 'The White Linen' after they allegedly got too rowdy on February 27. The group of 12 were seated in the small restaurant and reportedly proceeded to order multiple drinks.
The manager of the restaurant, Cassidy Merriman said that the group was rowdy enough to disturb the other guests at dinner and that one couple even said they couldnt hear one another talk over the group. Merriman said the group reportedly began cursing and one member of the dining party allegedly went to the kitchen to yell at a chef. Merriman asked the rowdy lawmakers to leave.
Restaurant owner Adam VanDonge said They came into our restaurant and completely disrespected everyone.
VanDonge told the party they were not welcome back due to their behavior. The restaurant also posted on Facebook to remind guests of their policies. Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that we need to be more explicit about our alcohol policies at The White Linen, said the post.
We want to ensure our guests, who are on their best behaviors, that we will enforce Kansas alcohol laws that require us to refuse to overserve individuals who are visibly intoxicated/incapacitated and, therefore, may not be on their best behaviors, the post said.
The restaurant has a 4.9 rating out of 5 on the Facebook page with reviews from nearly 100 people. Comments from those on the restaurants page supported The White Linen. Man, you shouldnt even have to spell this out
, wrote one person while another said, Thank you for you continued pledge to excellence!
VanDonge said he offered $50 coupons to other patrons who were dining that night.
