I count 4 SUVs, 3 pickup trucks, 5 sedans, 1 minivan, and 8 crossovers.
There was a lively discussion here after Ford announced they were going to stop production on all models of sedans but two. Looking at what's in parking lots, it's easy to see why Ford decided to do so.

(35,348 posts)through in 10 years Toyota replaced the frame, rear springs, a-frame and spare tire carrier all rusted beyond repair. I never had my Ford's rust like that.

(50,278 posts)had that problem. They replaced everything for free so it's good to go for many more years, but even the 2007 is bigger than he would like. It drive me nuts when you see footage of terrorists and their LITTLE trucks in the Middle East.

(29,673 posts)I hate those double door pick up trucks......they stick out so far in parking lots, and take up WAY to much space.

(29,673 posts)parking at the clinic, those trucks lined both sides of the ramp......hard to see around them and even park. One nice things tho, they at least made everyone slow down in the ramps because of not being able to see around them.

My first car (a 1985 Cavalier) and my best car (a 2002 Cavalier) came from that plant. I still have the 2002 Cavalier, and I pray it makes it to retirement.
Four of the five cars I have owned in my life are Chevys. One was a coupe (85 Cavalier), one was a large sedan (94 Lumina), one was a small station wagon (98 Ford Escort), a small sedan (02 Cavalier), and a small SUV (09 HHR). I still have the last two.
Cavalier to Escort to HHR
Lumina to Cavalier
The HHR was necessary to get to dog agility trails. We went to over 30 trials with that vehicle. Myself, two girls, and two dogs were a bit of tight fit. We also took the HHR to Florida and Louisiana from Iowa with the four of us and two dogs. Could not have done this with the other vehicles.

(25,183 posts)was an AMC Gremlin, and second worst was the Pontiac Phoenix I traded the Gremlin in to buy it. Both had about two years of decent use, then went to hell in a handbasket.
I've been with Asian cars ever since, and have not been disappointed with the useful life I've gotten out of them. My 2012 Sonata Hybrid will probably be the last car I own, especially since I am retired and not driving fifty miles a day to get to and from work.

My personal vehicle is an old Ford Ranger pickup, compact, comfy with a very smooth ride for what it is and with an extended cab for whatever. We've replaced the transmission twice, and I'm going to be sad when I someday finally give it up.
