There is a very simple solution to prevent preferential treatment of rich people like Manafort:

If somebody steals $1 million, would you say, he should get at least 1 year in jail?

My proposal is simple:
The convicted gets 1 year of mandatory jail-time (not subject to modification) per every $1 million in damages or bribes.

You evade $10 million in taxes, you go to jail for at least 10 years.

would be to treat the 1% like plague carriers. Interact with them if you must but NEVER vote them into power or trust them with your life. The only lives they are concerned with are their own.

They take a million, pay back two million and we will add jail time based on the amount they don't pay back. Start at 20 years for the penalty part, like the second million they didn't pay and one year off the sentence for each one tenth not paid back. So, 10 years in jail if they only pay back a half million for the half million of the penalty portion. Pay back one and half million and then only get 10 years, or half of the 20 years.

On the other hand he gave a black man that was above average wealth and privilege 13 years for white collar crimes.

This should be noted.

I'm not a fan for locking someone up and throwing away the key unless the crimes are brutal, serial or involve the abuse of a child. However, this sentencing highlights how unjust our justice system can be.

Next week will be a whole different ballgame, though. I wonder if that influenced this judge a little bit.
