Retail Apocalypse post #3...Now, even Amazon is shuttering doors

Amazon to close all its pop-up shops

NEW YORK (AP) -- Amazon is shutting down all its pop-up shops and focusing on opening more of its bookstores as it rethinks its brick-and-mortar strategy.

The online retail giant has 87 pop-up shops in malls, Whole Foods grocery stores and Kohl's department stores that sell Amazon's Echo voice-activated devices, Kindle tablets and other gadgets.

Amazon did not say when the pop-up shops would shut down, but the Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported that they will close down in April.

People these days are not into wasting time wandering through stores.. If they need something they go online, shop and order.

I can see a need for fresh produce, dairy & meats, but for other things who wants to waste time?

Boomers, as teens & young adults, were the BIGTIME shoppers, and we are now old and have better things to do with our time.

If we want a yellow shirt, we can find one fast online, have it sent to our doorstep in a day, and not have to go to 4 or 5 stores looking for one in our size, just the right color..

I used to wander around to different stores, back in the day, looking for a particular item. And then maybe not finding it. Now, I find it online and order it, hopefully on sale. Or it can tell me where to go to get it.

I still buy clothing only in person, though.
