it can sure as hell live through and survive the impeachment of Trump.
Why is this even being argued?
Even if we supposedly have very little time we already have plenty of proof on various crimes.

(13,903 posts)of course we can survive Trump. The problem is that we will have to clean up his d**n mess.

(25,862 posts)The damage he has done goes far beyond the constant lies, or profiting financially by having foreign diplomats stay at his hotel, or how much has been spent so he can go golfing in Florida every weekend, or even the collusion with Russia. In the larger picture those things don't really matter. What matters, what we may never get out from under, is the judges he's appointed, the people who are heading up departments they despise, the rolling back of regulations of all sorts, and the loss of good civil servants with decades of experience who are not longer putting up with this crap.
Getting rid of Trump and gaining President Pence will not be an improvement. We can only hope that in 2020 a Democrat becomes our 46th President, and take enormous majorities in the House, Senate, as well as in state houses and senates and governor's mansions across the country. Then, and only then can we start to turn this country around. But even if that happens, the turnaround will be enormously slow.

If the House starts the impeachment it will take up a large part of this year, if not more. Pence, if he doesnt get impeached himself, wont have much time to do much harm, nor will he have a solid Republican Congress to give him everything he wants.
In 2020 a Democrat will be elected President. The Republican Party is ruined. Maybe for years.

(25,862 posts)been made about the imminent demise of either the Republican or the Democratic Party. While, if forced to make a choice, I'd say the Republican Party is somewhat more likely to disappear, or be irrelevant for a long time, it wasn't that long ago that the Democrats seemed irrelevant.
I very much hope that a Democrat becomes President in 2020. I have some pretty strong feelings about many of those currently in the mix, but I'm officially uncommitted, although I'm not participating in the Democratic Primary forum.

(53,410 posts)How much time does that leave for Pence to be President? Months at worst. And the House will exist everything he does, as will the Justice system.
