that's a pretty attractive idea, really. I just looked, and there are 1 bed, 1 bath townhouses going for under $100K and 2 bed, 2 bath ones starting at about $120 K.

The only way those would be anywhere livable is if they are leasehold, so you don’t own the land. Add in those lease payments plus whatever they will be when the lease goes up.

Sometimes it’s not a bad idea. If you don’t care about leaving any assets behind when you hala on it can be ok.

It’s about a third of what you would pay for a just ok apartment in a walkup without parking.

So I guess they just want me to stay out there forever?? Works for me, but my wife is going to be pissed. I'll be sure to call her once a week or so and check on her and the kids.
