(26,060 posts)are disgusting bigots - everyone on this board already knows this. I can't speak for all Democrats but I personally expect more from my side of the aisle.

(1,588 posts)so we have that to disagree about. Walk in someone else's shoes. Then come talk to me.

(8,758 posts)Of course its bad when any American politician is anti-Semitic, but there's little outcry when Republicans do it because they're expected to be anti-Semitic, and their base not only expects it, demands it. This is what happens when racism is the main plank of a political party. They've laid down with white-power groups for decades now, this is the inevitable result.
Why report on common knowledge?

(8,758 posts)My question was sarcastic and rhetorical. I thought that was obvious.
Oh, that's right, Jordan is a republican, so guess it doesn't count.

(1,439 posts)And it actually contains a prominent Democrat calling the tweet anti-semitic.
It seems like Democratic critics of Omar's anti-semitic tweets are still justified in calling out her bigoted comments, if that's what you were getting at with this OP.

(1,588 posts)You can't even say the I word without someone yelling anti-Semitic. It's getting ridiculous. You can't even have a civil conversation, her especially, without someone jumping down your throat, or their "buddies" ganging up on you. I see the way it works around here, and it's not pretty. It's the same cliquish shit as everywhere else...lol
Pounce!

(4,238 posts)They own that. We expect better from our side, and will call you out on it even if there is a (D) behind your name.
Are you part of the masters? Do you hold the key to what is right and wrong?

(11,738 posts)We call out our own party members when they transgress what what is a standard of behavior. We certainly call out Republicans, but Democrats typically have little to no power in creating change within the Republican Party. We can let Rep. Omar know that she should not use what is typically considered antisemitic language in her criticisms of Israeli policy. We can also say what Rep Jordan tweeted was antisemitic, but we have no ability to sanction Jordan as we do with Omar.
Republicans will not typically do anything about their members' poor behavior unless it is a direct threat to their own standing.

(1,588 posts)It's no better than their side..... I see gang mentality myself... It's not pretty... I bet you could follow these same people through a lot of these threads and see where they gang up together...
Caliman73
(11,738 posts)No. It isn't groupthink and we are not after groupthink for Democrats. We just don't want the politicians we elect to sexually assault women, to say racist things, to say antisemitic things, to steal money from people or sell out our values to big donors or other countries. When people step over that line, they will be called out.
PeeJ52
(1,588 posts)That's what you're getting at? Because I did none of those things you mentioned to be "called out". I brought attention to a double standard and was self righteously pooh poohed. LOL... If you got nothing good to say... don't say anything... You are what make Democrats look bad... Keep your nose out of other peoples business. The first comment after my post was a positive one, ok... Different strokes for different folks... GET OFF MY BACK!
Caliman73
(11,738 posts)Just trying to explain to you the differences in reaction to the behavior of politicians within our party and those outside of our party.
Sorry you are feeling defensive.
I never understood that statement about "if you have nothing good to say..." Sometimes information is not positive. Sometimes it is neither positive or negative but in how the person receiving the information takes it. Sometimes it is difficult to accept information that does not confirm our biases. Communication can be difficult.
With that, I will stop responding to your posts unless something stands out. Or you can certainly put me on ignore.

(40,212 posts)Someone please take idiots like Rep. Jordan to school. Talking about Jews and their money in the same sentence is an old world anti-Semitic trope. Why is that so hard to get? Oops, wait....they do it on purpose!
PeeJ52
(1,588 posts)So what if it's not in context...I can now blow that up and say you're anti-Semitic... It's ridiculous.

(35,077 posts)I am one of her defenders and will continue to defend her.
But at the same time, I'm starting to see when she says things like this, it's not unreasonable that she gets criticized.
At the same time still, I also know that she says things white, non-Muslim people say all the time... and it's not a problem. But it is a problem in and of itself that should be talked about.
She is smart and wonderful and I think she has a bright future, but she needs to read what she posts on Twitter twice before hitting the post button though.
Hopefully, some nuance helps here.

(92,217 posts)accusation.
She apologized initially for that, then several day later made the same dual loyalty accusation.
She is doing this to herself.
I can think of dozens of ways to criticize US/Israeli policy by NOT accusing someone of dual loyalties
It amounts to the same bullshit if someone accused her of dual loyalties
