Rep Lieu Statement On Announcement Of Judiciary Committee's Massive Investigation: 3/3/19

March 3, 2019 Press Release
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler announced this morning the scope of the Committee's oversight agenda in the coming months.

"The House Judiciary Committee is starting a massive investigation into whether Donald Trump and his family and associates committed crimes or engaged in unethical misconduct. We cannot avert our eyes to the evidence plainly before us that crimes and other misconduct may have been committed by Trump and those within his orbit.

"Unlike the narrow scope of the Special Counsel's investigation--whether there is enough evidence to charge a person with a crime related to Russian interference--the Judiciary Committee's oversight mission is far more broad. We want to know if Executive Branch officials, including the President, committed any crimes or engaged in any unethical misconduct.

"We will hold hearings, interview witnesses, analyze documents and build a record. Our investigation will either exonerate Trump and those around him, or it won't. We will then have a conversation with the American people on how to proceed after we conclude our investigation. I want to commend Chairman Jerry Nadler for his strong and steady leadership, and look forward to working with him on this critical investigation."

Doug just voted to charge doctors with a crime if a late term abortion results in a live birth and the physician doesn’t try to save it. GOP red meat at its finest.

I’m disappointed in my senator for falling for that tripe.

45.7% of the time. While some may say that he is doing so in a red state in order to prolong his stay, I disagree. No one likes lukewarm. Be a Democrat. Vote with Democrats.

Moore is kind of Alabama's Trump. He has a hardcore bunch of evangelicals and racists who will turn out for him come hell or high water.
The turnout for the R primary was very low.

As ferret has said, Byrne will win, I have no doubt.
He's a spineless suck-up but he has the magic R by his name in Alabama and (as far as we know) he hasn't molested any young girls or women.

Don't throw shade on Jones. He is trying his damndest to keep the seat in the D column.
If he has to blue dog a bit, we're fine with that.
A valiant effort, but to no avail I'm afraid.

Adoption might be complicated. We will, however, consider a sort of foreign exchange program.

You should, of course, be careful what you wish for.

You might get Devin Nunes.

Sincerely,

California

There's a lot of subpoenas that are being sent to members of the Trump Org. I am guessing that most will give Rep. Nadler the middle finger and tell them to force them to come testify. Even if they do get them to come I can imagine they will plead the 5th or refuse to answer questions. We will see if the tax returns get made public. That will probably be where the most news will be. All the Russian and Saudi Arabian connections will be present there.

So typical of all Republicans and most especially Trump, I fear they will try to tie this investigation up in procedural hurdles and law suits that could delay any just result for years.

That could be what Repugs are betting on and all the while they're nibbling away at everything precious our government has been to us for a very long time.......

Instead of ramping down his criminality when he became President he increased it because the Republican controlled House and Republican controlled Senate refused to do their job and stop it.

Well now it's time for the reckoning
