Lies are an assault upon reality.
In our everyday lives, we do not tolerate lies from friends or loved ones. It is not "normal" to the way we live our lives. We are not comfortable with inaccurate information posing as facts. We feel threatened by such information. We challenge it and we correct it. It is necessary for a safe and happy society.
When lies are disseminated from our government, it affects all of society. It tears us apart. We become angry and obsessive. We fight to maintain control of the "truth" we have become accustomed to. That is the reality we know and are comfortable with.
A society cannot tolerate lies from its leaders. It is as simple as that. It is dangerous to distort facts and reality.
