It appears wire reporters @JonLemire & @jeffmason1 were punished for asking questions --

Same two reporters who asked questions Trump didn’t like in Helsinki during Putin joint press conference.

It appears wire reporters @JonLemire& @jeffmason1 were punished for asking questions — which is their job — during Trump’s first availability with Kim Jong Un. They were cut out of the pool covering Trump-Kim dinner “due to the sensitive nature of the meeting,” per Sarah Sanders

I'm betting two things: 1) the tweets will get even more outrageous, and 2) North Korea will get far more out of the summit than the U.S. in order for Trump to get a "win". I think it will end up making him look weak.

New: WH tried to block all reporters from Trump-Kim dinner. This followed questions about Cohen shouted at Trump at previous availability. Sanders relented and allowed just one.

I wonder who it was.

One print reporter, @vmsalama of the WSJ, was allowed in the room as a proxy for all the print reporters present at the dinner.

While the WH punished reporters for asking Trump questions, Trump reveled in the attention of the print photographers allowed into the dinner spray, asking Doug Mills to send him photos so he could share them with Kim.

To the still photographers’ credit, they refused to shoot the dinner if no reporters were allowed in, which was the initial WH response. Because of that solidarity, a print and radio pooler were allowed in with the stills. Four print/wire reporters were still barred.

I’ve been in meetings in China when US officials insisted on reporter access - over the objection of Chinese officials. Here, you have US officials blocking access.

To be clear, the reporters are being excluded by an official from the US government, not foreign officials, in one of the more outrageous moves by this White House.
