Airline Sues Man Who Threw Coins into Plane Engine for Good Luck

A Chinese airline is suing a passenger who allegedly threw coins into a plane engine for good luck in east China earlier this month.

The 28-year-old man, who was identified by his surname Lu, admitted to tossing two 1 yuan coins at the passenger jet's engine as he was boarding the plane on the tarmac at Anqing Tianzhushan Airport.

Ground staff found the coins by the plane's left engine, prompting officials to ground the flight due to security reasons before eventually canceling it altogether. Lu, who was traveling with his wife and one-year-old child, was detained for a week and now faces legal repercussions

They likely heard rattling and had the pilot shut the engines down for a check.

But yeah, if that plane had taken off with the problem, who knows what could have happened with the blades going at full speed.

Peeing on bus tires is pretty common.

Never heard of throwing a coin into an engine, though.

We count on science and engineering to make the planes fly. And every time there's a successful take off, we pull out our six-shooters and fire them in the air to celebrate the triumph of science and engineering! YEEEE-HAWWWW!!!

Even coins can cause serious structural damage to the blades. Put that asshole in prison.
