WEST PALM BEACH — Calling human trafficking in Palm Beach County “evil in our midst,” State Attorney Dave Aronberg announced Monday that 25 men accused of paying for sex acts at a Jupiter day spa have been formally charged with soliciting a prostitute.

Among them is New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, the part-time Palm Beach resident who police said paid women twice for sex on consecutive days last month at the Orchids of Asia Day Spa. One visit took place on the morning of Jan. 20, shortly before Kraft flew to Kansas City to see his team defeat the Chiefs that night in the AFC Championship game. Kraft, 77, faces two counts of soliciting a prostitute, a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.

Also among them was John Havens, the former chief operation officer for Citigroup. Havens allegedly paid for a sex act on Jan. 22, according to police records.

Authorities investigate human-trafficking at area day spas
Two women were arrested Tuesday following raids in Jupiter and Martin County. Police say prostitution ring has connections to New York and China.

STUART — While living and working in day spas in Palm Beach and Martin counties, at least one-half dozen women were forced to perform graphic sex acts daily, averaging eight clients a day, authorities said Tuesday in announcing arrests in a large-scale human-trafficking ring.

An eight-month investigation involving local, state and federal agencies culminated in the arrests of two women who authorities say orchestrated a prostitution ring that has connections to New York and China. Authorities arrested Ruimei Li of Jupiter and Lixia Zhu of Stuart, both 48, making one of the arrests in Palm Beach County and the other in Martin County.
