S.E. Cupp Rips Media for ‘Zeroing In’ on ‘Dumb Plot Lines’ About Dems: ‘This is All Good for Trump, Guys’

by Tamar Auber | Feb 23rd, 2019, 6:34 pm

On Saturday, CNN’s S.E. Cupp slammed the media for focusing on the “dumb” plot lines that keep making Democrats look bad while making President Donald Trump look even more electable. Cupp started by saying that while the calendar might say it is 2019, in reality, the 2020 election cycle is “already here.”

Then after talking about the viral video of Sen. Dianne Feinstein “getting schooled” by activist school kids — one which she noted did not exactly tell the complete and fair version of events — she noted things like this example of “Dem-on-Dem crime” are only going to get worse.

“This kind of stuff is only going to heat up as Democrats try to out-left each other… and prove their Progressive bona fides. This is a fight for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, yes, but its also, may I remind you, supposed to be a fight for the White House,” Cupp said, adding its not exactly a good look for the party.

She then turned to recent headlines including the decidedly silly story that Sen. Amy Klobuchar once ate a salad with a comb and Sen. Kamala Harris saying — in response to a controversy over her record — she will not apologize for prosecuting child molesters.

Then she said this: “If I’m Donald Trump, I’m feeling pretty good about my chances. As long as the media keeps zeroing in on these dumb plot lines and as long as the Democrats spend the next year talking about the things that most Americans don’t prioritize… Trump’s got this one in the bag.” Cupp then stressed all this should worry Democrats.

“The media is talking about Amy Klobuchar’s salad comb? A former prosecutor [Kamala Harris] has to defend her record of prosecuting criminals?” Cupp continued on. “This is all good for Trump, guys. Trust me.”

unlike you, I don't see any point in giving time or space to promote the opinions of Republican commentators like S.E. Cupp while she bashes Democrats and praises Trump.

Please continue to defend her, your position is absolutely riveting.

I think we on the left want so very badly to be good people and are so sensitive (I don’t mean that as a pejorative) that we equate things that shouldn’t be equated. It leaves us vulnerable to every well aimed blow. We have a hard time doing so much Mea culpa-ing that we often can’t find a firm footing anywhere. It’s a real problem.

that any Democrat needs to look to a Republican to tell us about our faults. If we need another hairshirt or a session in the flagellation room there have been several biting news stories on this topic that have already been published by major news media:

Will 2020 Democrats Help Trump By Destroying Each Other?

2020 Democrats insist they adore one another - POLITICO

It should be apparent that there are only 2 groups itching to comment on Democratic candidates who get into drag-out fights: Trump's reelection campaign and the 24 hour news media. There's nothing remarkable about political candidates sparring as they jockey for position, it happens whenever two (or more) candidates are competing for the same slot. Republicans did the same thing last election, and with far less adroit candidates than we have, and yet they seem to have weathered the storm no worse for wear.

This is a time tested political process that serves to winnow the grain from the chaff and let us see who can think on the fly and nimbly out manoeuvre the competition to earn a spot in the top tier.

for its focus on irrelevant topics, not Democrats.

unlike you, I can take the good comments with the bad and not see things purely in black and white - especially with a national emergency in the White House

Trump border wall funding plan jeopardizes 911th Airlift Wing construction in Moon(pgh, pa.)

The White House’s plan to divert military construction projects to the border wall jeopardizes $93 million in funding for infrastructure improvements to allow the Moon’s 911th Airlift Wing(Pgh,Pa.) to accommodate C-17 planes.

It also jeopardizes funding for a submarine propeller manufacturing facility in Philadelphia and the National Guard training center in Fort Indiantown Gap.

And, sad to say, she’s on the money here. If Democrats go after each other hammer and tongs, nothing good will come of it.

The real national emergency is Trump. Getting rid of that would-be despot just may entail voting for a Democratic candidate who doesn’t check all of one’s personal boxes.
