Ex-Trump official calls BS on president’s love for the military — and shames him for the government shutdown

David Lapan, who served as the spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security under President Donald Trump, called out the president on Monday after he boasted about doing a “great job” for the American military.

Lapan, a retired marine who left the Trump administration in late 2017, took issue with Trump’s tweet claiming that he has “done a great job for… the Military, Vets, Economy and so much more.”

“It’s time to retire the line about the military after your shutdown forced Coast Guardsmen and women to work without pay for 35 days,” Lapan wrote in response to Trump’s tweet. “And now you’re taking billions of [dollars] away from the military for a border wall (that Congress is already funding).”

This is not the first time that Lapan has publicly criticized Trump since leaving the administration. Last November, for example, he slammed Trump for using military service members as “political pawns” after the president ordered them to go to the U.S.-Mexico border to deal with the caravan of migrants that was trying to seek entry into the United States.

2. This vet has never had any illusions about Trump's opinion of the military...

and veterans. He only 'loves' what he can use for his own benefit. Loyalty is always a one way street for him. He demands it from others, but shows none for anybody outside of his own bloated skin.

As long as military and vets are willing to act as props for his ego shows, he 'loves' them. When they show initiative and true patriotism, he turns on them. He can order the military around and they have to follow orders. He doesn't fool me.

6. He hates the military

Just like he hates law enforcement in this country because he doesn't have absolute control over them both, and complete loyalty to him and only him first. He wants them to be his little personal groups serving just him and his needs , and used against those that oppose him , or are a threat to exposing him. trump is a fraud abusing our institutions and corrupting others to do as he demands or else, and really he hates Democracy the most because it holds him accountable, and prevents absolute power for him.

which for the life of me I don't understand why we don't have an ad re-running that abominable lie every day running up to the 2020 election.
