Bernie Sanders might launch presidential bid at Brooklyn College

By Carl Campanile February 17, 2019 | 6:01pm

Excerpt:

He still feels the Bern — for Brooklyn and the presidency.

Vermont democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders’ camp is in talks with Brooklyn College about giving a major outdoor speech at the campus, fueling speculation that the rally there would be part of a roll-out for a second presidential run.

The Flatbush native attended Brooklyn College for a year, not far from his childhood home, and his older brother, Larry, is a Brooklyn College graduate. He has kept close ties to the City University of New York school, having delivered the commencement speech there in 2017, when he received an honorary degree.

The rally would be delivered on the campus’ spacious quad, according to a source familiar with the planning. Brooklyn College President Michelle Anderson declined to comment.

The Sanders campaign had no immediate comment but one of his backers said, “You’re onto something.”

An 'Independent' bid would nail the coffin on any chance of a Dem victory - no matter who the nominee.

The Democratic Party (DNC) will not prevent Sanders from running in the Democratic primary and it will treat him as a Democratic candidate. The perceived cost of doing otherwise is too high; hence, frustration held by some people.

Personally, I think his running could be great, and effectively serve as a source of anti-technocratic, anti-austerity force.

Kamala Harris announced her candidacy from her home city and state of Oakland, California.
Cory Booker announced his candidacy from his home city and state of Newark, New Jersey.
Amy Klobuchar announced her candidacy from her home city and state of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Elizabeth Warren announced her candidacy from her home city and state of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Pete Buttigieg announced his candidacy from his home city and state of South Bend, Indiana.
Tulsi Gabbard announced her candidacy from her home city and state of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why is Sanders going to announce his candidacy from Brooklyn College (where he only attended for one year before dropping out and going to the University of Chicago) instead of his home city and state of Burlington, Vermont? He hasn't lived in Brooklyn for more than 55 years.

By the way, he isn't a Flatbush native, he's a Midwood native.
