Trump *asked* Japanese PM Abe to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize last autumn after receiving a request from the U.S. government to do so, the Asahi newspaper reported on Sunday.

The report follows Trump’s claim on Friday that Abe had nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize for opening talks and easing tensions with North Korea.

The Japanese leader had given him “the most beautiful copy” of a five-page nomination letter, Trump said at a White House news conference.

The U.S. government had sounded Abe out over the Noble Peace Prize nomination after Trump’s summit in June last year with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the first meeting between a North Korean leader and a sitting U.S. president, the Asahi said, citing an unnamed Japanese government source.

If you have to beg for a nomination you're not going to get the prize. I wonder who else he asked?

If, in some alternate universe (because it's not happening in this one), the Nobel Committee OD'd on akevitt and gave him the prize, he'd brag that the medal was bigger and better and had more gold in it than Obama's.

by doing something that would have no effect at all; he must know there's no way in Hell that Trump would ever be awarded the Peace Prize. So Trump gets stroked and Abe stays in his good graces. Cynical, but that's diplomacy when you have to deal with Trump. "Sure, man, I'll write a letter. You're a shoo-in!" And then Abe

And here's the real problem: it seems as if no one, not anyone in Trump's cabinet, none of his advisors, no Congressional Republicans, and apparently no foreign leaders are bothering to tell him anything about how the world really works. No one seems to correct him on his constant factual mistakes.

Personally, Abe writing the letter makes me lose respect for him. Just as I can't respect those who surround Trump and who don't at least try to set him straight on things.

It's a cover for genuine evil at times. Like "Just following orders" has been.

And even if Trump had tried an "... or else" Abe ought to be bright enough to know his bark has no bite.

Any elected official world wide can write a letter to “nominate” someone for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Nominations are stupid and we should ignore them.

All that matters is who gets PICKED. And there is a 0.0000000000000000001% chance our lousy president will get picked for this award.

The more we talk about nominations the more we give air to stupid stories about the Nobel.
Bottom line: Trump is a corrupt unamerican criminal and he ain’t gonna get any prize.
