In the wake of the mass shooting in Aurora, Illinois that left five people dead on Friday, presidential candidate and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) called for more gun control during a campaign stop in Wisconsin.
It is time to do something about, by the way, after the tragedy in what we saw happen in Aurora, Illinois yesterday. It is time to put sensible gun legislation in place, Klobuchar said to voters.
I actually sat across from the president at that meeting, because I have a bill, a bipartisan bill, involving domestic violence, I counted nine times he said he was for universal background checks, she added.

The National Rifle Association asked on Twitter what she would have proposed to stop him from obtaining the firearm. Guns & Ammo magazine listed Illinois 41 out of 50 for best states for gun owners

(945 posts)..."sensible gun control" is a soft response for people who don't have a plan.
However, she did say something about background checks. That's a start.

(65,112 posts)CNN report said the FOID background check does not require fingerprinting.
The concealed carry law does, and he got flagged when he applied for that.
Seems a mystery why the gun wasn't relinquished once he got flagged.
Thing is, my retirement intention is to substitute teach a little, and THAT requires separate fingerprinting in every county one wishes to get authorization. So I had to pay the fee twice, and I wasn't trying to buy a deadly weapon.

(7,596 posts)They'll always believe that any calls for reasonable gun control is a cry to remove all guns and you'll never be able to convince them otherwise.
And, yes, I will call them gun-humpers. Sorry to anyone here who has a problem with that. You can't convince me it's not partly a fetish thing when I see crap like this.

(1,736 posts)Excellent presentation and connection with the audience. Senator Kloubuchar was on point on many issues. I also liked her demeanor very much. I have met her previously in a discussion circle, and her growth over the years as a leader is easy to see. She's a well-prepared and impressive candidate.
