Jussie Smollett attorneys issue statement denying knowledge of the attack

"Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with," read the statement from his attorneys. "He has been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth."

If this is a setup by Smollett, it has to be the dumbest plan in history!!

2. If he's innocent that's going to be great but I have my doubts.

There just seems to be way too much pointing to the publicity stunt angle. Of course I will withhold my judgment until all the facts are known. But damn it looks bad and I really worry how much it will hinder future hate crime victims if this all turns out to be a scam.

3. Smollett, thru his attys, is changing his story. From the article:

The statement [from his attorneys] said one of the brothers was Smollett's personal trainer, the first time he has acknowledged knowing either of them. The two also reportedly worked with Smollett on “Empire.”

If true, that's troubling for Smollett's case...

If this turns out to be a hoax, I’m not going to think to much of his intelligence level either. Smh.

How would these two know where he was going to be at 2 am in the morning so they can show up there with a rope? I doubt they are psychic.

Otherwise they had to get rides in the middle of the night in cold weather to do what, exactly? If he claims they decided to attack him on their own volition, there is no explanation how could they possibly had known he was going to be out at 2 am getting a sandwich.
