The Dallas Observer reported that Pastor Robert Jeffress, a member of Trumps evangelical advisory board, trashed moronic and spineless never-Trump Christians in an interview with conservative radio personality Todd Starnes.
His criticisms stemmed from those evangelicals lack of support for the president who he believes will end abortion.
This is an issue of life and death, Jeffress said. This is so black and white, so much about good versus evil. I dont get it.
We cannot afford to be like German Christians who, in the rise of the evil reign of Adolf Hitler, just remained neutered. They remained silent. And you saw what happened there, the pastor added. I think theres a similar wave of godlessness that is rising in our country right now and we must push back against that tide.

(58,676 posts)It's what Trump does, and it's what the Christian Talibangelists do. They complain endlessly about being 'suppressed' because people fight back when they try to force their distorted view of Christianity on others.
Many Christians supported Hitler, too. That worked out well.

(14,858 posts)Jeffress is a mainstream Southern Baptist pastor. The Southern Baptists, you might recall, are the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, by far. He's been preaching successfully within that denomination for decades.
The majority of Christians voted for Trump in 2016, so Jeffress isn't exactly going against the grain here. He's rich because he has lots of followers who like what he says, and so they give him money.

(17,276 posts)there is something about all the followers of the anti-christ wearing the "mark of the beast" on their foreheads, if I'm remembering right.
Kind of like wearing a MAGA hat.
I always thought it would be kind of preposterous for people to be so led by an evil doer. But I can picture it now. These so-called men of faith are being sucked into the thrall of this guy and they presume ably don't see the evil in him. Or else they are just as evil and don't care.

(16,869 posts)Seem to be going out of their way to fulfill the biblical prophecy of the end times, just not in the way they imagine. The Bible is pretty clear that many "believers" will be deceived by and become advocates for an "AntiChrist". Trump was a means to an end for these evangelical types in the hopes of pursuing their dominionist agenda and Trump readily uses them to shore up his own support. These fools don't realize they're exposing themselves to be the frauds that they are.

Read this passage from an interview with David Cay Johnston with Amy Goodman of Democracy Now.
DAVID CAY JOHNSTON: I did not appreciate, until I worked on the book, that while Donald holds himself out as a devout ChristianNo one reads the Bible more than mewhile he has all these pastors embracing him as a good Christian man, Donald aggressively, thoroughly and at great length, in many forums, denounces Christianity. His personal motto is always get revenge, whereas the message of Jesus Christ was turn the other cheek. And these ministers, some of whom Ive written to and haventthey havent responded at allcontinue to embrace him. And I find it very troubling. Donald has beguiled them with flattery. If they continue, now that my book is out, if they know about it, to do this, they are then deceiving their flocks, and thats evil. But Donald himself doesnt care about these things. He will tell you any lie. He cant quote a single line from the Bible. Not one. And yet he says, No one reads the Bible more than Donald Trump. If you ask him, Well, what do you like in the Bible? Oh, theres so many. Theres so many. I justthere are so many, I cant choose.
