Andrew McCabe Says DOJ Seriously Discussed Assembling Trump’s Cabinet to Remove President From Office

by Colby Hall | Feb 14th, 2019, 7:33 am 544

Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe down with 60 Minutes host Scott Pelley for his first public interview since getting unceremoniously fired by the Trump administration.

“There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” Pelley said of his conversations McCabe.

A short clip of entire 60 Minutes segment aired Wednesday on CBS Morning, but the more interesting part came in the panel discussion afterward, in which Pelley described what he found to be the “most illuminating and surprising thing” they discussed: the eight days that followed President Donald Trump’s firing of then FBI Director James Comey.

Pelley shared how McCabe explained what was happening behind the scenes at the highest levels of the FBI and Department of Justice in which serious discussions of invoking the 25th amendment to remove a sitting president.

“They were counting noses” Pelley explained, adding “Not asking cabinet members whether they would vote for or against removing the president. But they were speculating, this person would be with us. That person would not be, and they were counting noses in that effort.”

Andrew McCabe on Ordering Trump Investigations: I Thought He May Have Won ‘With Aid of Russia’

by Aidan McLaughlin | Feb 14th, 2019, 8:19 am 32

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe dished on his meeting with President Donald Trump hours after the firing of James Comey, and revealed that he ordered an obstruction of justice investigation into the president the following day.

“I was speaking to the man who had just run for the presidency, and won the election of the presidency, and who might have done so with the aid of Russia, our most formidable adversary on the world stage, and that was something that troubled me greatly,” McCabe told 60 Minutes of his first meeting with Trump after the FBI director’s stunning firing.

“How long was it after that, that you decided to start the obstruction of justice and counterintelligence investigations involving the president?” asked CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley.

McCabe said he met with the team investigating the Russia cases the next day.

“I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion,” he explained. “That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.”

“I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision,” McCabe said.

3. Instead, McCabe and his circle were removed by Trump and his henchmen

Comey, McCabe and all but one of the inner circle who were first informed by Comey of his concerns have either been fired or left the FBI. It's a wonder Rosenstein and the Mueller probe has survived.

The excuse that Rosenstein was merely joking about wearing a wire was just a way to pacify Trump to prevent Rosenstein getting fired.

It was clear from the beginning of his ouster that Trump chose to remove him because he wouldn't cowtow to Trump.

14. Well, the news is all over his book and his "60 Minutes" interview this morning.

DAYUM. He's singing like a nightingale. Seems fitting. trump screwed him out of his pension that he'd earned over two decades of faithful service, on something like the night before he was due to retire. I believe it was less than 24 hours before McCabe was scheduled to retire. And he KNEW that. trump the SCHMUCK! Vindictive LITTLE Schmuck. Did that DELIBERATELY, petty little piss-ant that he is!

Well, fitting karmic payback, I think. McCabe stands to make a lot more money from his book sales, personal appearances, and speaking engagements. And he'll likely wind up as a good guy in the history books, too, the way John Dean did. Can't say that about too many other trump administration escapees.

He was a traitor. He started planning to get rid of McCabe as soon as someone told him that McCabe and others knew trump was a traitor.

11. He shouldn't be discussing this for public consumption at this time, IMO.

It'll just get the Trump team's paranoia stirred up and could cost others their jobs, including Rosenstein, who is the country's only hope to stop, or report, Whitaker or Barr's interference w/Mueller.

What matters is that they DIDN'T do it. So there's no point in revealing this at this critical time. (Who reports "we almost did something, but shucks, we didn't have the guts"? Esp when heads could roll, as a result of the revelation. )

It should be the biggest story of the past 50 years.
But Trump has the public so anesthetized by his constant uproar that millions of American citizens hear this and think “Oh, more of this shit.”

I believe that decades from now the final comment on any discussion of the entire Nixon Watergate scandal will be along the lines of “but this scandal would pale in comparison to what would unfold just 40 years later with Trump’s election fraud and subsequent cover-up.”
