California Gov. Gavin Newsom clapped back at President Donald Trump’s demand for his state to return $3 billion.
In a Wednesday tweet, Trump said that because California is putting their bullet train on hold that the state must repay the federal dollars that helped subsidize the project. As a fact check, Newsom didn’t stop the idea of high-speed rail in California, rather he put the bullet train on hold.
After Trump’s tweet, many wondered if the president was searching for ways to find money to supplement the 1,000-mile concrete border wall that he promised Mexico would fund.
