When ever I see her I choke up a bit. To see her on a recumbent bike in her husband's Senate commercial is so uplifting.

Mark Kelly is a model for men everywhere. An engineer. A fighter pilot. An astronaut. A brave man. But all of that pales in comparison to how he has stood by her.

I admire them both.

I wish him success in Arizona.

I wish them both a long and loving life.

1. When I saw that her husband was running for the Senate seat

I thought back to that Saturday back on 2011 when we came home from the market and I checked in on DU only to discover that horrific slaughter. She really is lucky to be alive- clearly she had great doctors and other support.

I'll never forget that shooting.

4. I heard him speak last fall

He is very inspiring. He talked at length about his experience as an astronaut and about the shooting. I choked up at his love and devotion to his wife. And she was with him, she came out on the stage and by just doing that, got a standing ovation. They make me proud to be American. He will make a great Senator.

8. When I saw the announcement on TV tonight,

I bet a lot of you could hear me yelling. I am so happy!
And I don't even live in Arizona. He would make an incredible senator. He is an amazing human being, and most of all, a wonderful husband.

And did I mention astronaut? I grew up wanting to be an astronaut. But back then, girls weren't allowed to be astronauts.

Mark Kelly would be such an incredible steward for the planet. He's been up there. He knows how fragile we are down here.
