at the state we are in right now.
He was a machinist union guy all his life. Had the same job before and after he was drafted. Served during the Korea Conflict as a trainer at West Point.
I learned politics from him. He worked aircraft manufacturing the same place for 45 years. I walked the strike picket line with him many times.
As contract time neared, he would always stock up with canned goods that could be used during strike time.
The day he died, was his official retirement day.
He was diagnosed with leukemia and 3 months to the diagnosis day he passed away.
I miss my daddy soooooo much but I am glad he isn't here to live through the dotard years-it would kill him.

(1,203 posts)Thank GOD dad isn't around for this. Dad was always a good liberal and a life time very vocal union supporter. He spent most of the Bush years getting really worked up at what was going on. For as upset as he got then, I think the sheer amount of what is going on now would have overwhelmed him.

I have many memories of my dad screaming at news during the Nixon tapes.
