Pelosi, Top Democrats Condemn 'Anti-Semitic' Tropes From Rep. Ilhan Omar, Demand Apology

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and other high-ranking Democrats are slamming freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar‘s (D-MN) recent comments about her fellow members of Congress — condemning them as anti-Semitic.

snip
Omar, who has been accused of anti-Semitism before, sparked controversy recently by suggesting that Republican support for Israel lies in the financial backing they get from pro-Israel organizations. When she acknowledged the pushback for her comments, Omar went a step further by saying “It’s all about the Benjamins baby” and calling out the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Thank you, Speaker Pelosi and anyone else calling out this disgusting tweet.

and others using cash to influence politicians, but it's anti-Semitic to complain about AIPAC's money going to them?

Antisemitism is real enough without making stuff up.

and that's the ONLY reason they support Israel. I'm going to guess you're not Jewish.

Netanyahu and the AIPAC have a large influence on our congress people. I don't really care if they are Muslim, Jewish, or Christian. They have a larger influence over our congress than they should because they, like the NRA, the Chamber of Commerce, and other big donors put money into the pockets of campaigns. Their money shouts while the donations of the rest of us as individuals is a whisper.

Let's be fair and consistent. If the large amounts of money coming from other sources is a problem, then it's a problem for the AIPAC too.

spending money influencing US politics and policy.

Throwing antisemitism charges around for this is a cheap shot.

and now even our leadership is calling her out. Defend her all you want, I'm glad the Democratic leadership knows better. And AIPAC is an American organization so at the very least, get that straight.

these anti-BDS work clauses are spreading like a grass fire and only a fascist would consider them constitutional. Making employment conditional upon signing away your rights is bullshit. I don't really in the bottom of my heart give a flying f*ck about the Palestinians predicament (well not enough to participate in a boycott against Israel anyway), but try to tell me my job depends on it and not only am I goint to say 'F*ck you', but I would take it to the highest court in the land if I had to do so.

Typical circular firing squad BS.

the only reason Israel gets support from DC is because they're getting PAID for it is disgusting, anti-semitic (do you know anything about the history of that kind of charge?) and I'm glad Pelosi sees it better than so many here.
