when the DNC was deciding their chairman. I like what he is proposing, but he is a long shot since he hasn't held a statewide or federal office. I don't know if he will still be around when Super Tuesday arrives in Texas, but he is one of the candidates that I'll be watching and considering for my vote.

I hope he sticks his whole foot in... As a gay atheist, I have some skin in this game...

He is REALLY young, and has plenty of time. But he must have name recognition. This is how he does that.

Maybe the party will think enough of him to let him give a major speech at the convention. That is when he could really take off.

I believe he will be our first (out) gay president. I hope I live long enough to see it.

He seems intelligent and articulate. I would like to hear more from him in the future.

but the city of which he is a mayor is not even one of the major cities in the nation. That's a big leap from moderate sized city to the presidency of the most powerful nation in the free world.

We haven't had a politician go from even the House of Representatives to the White House in well over a century.

It's not about him being "nice". He's extremely smart (has the best formal education of anyone running) and can articulate Democratic principals better than anyone I've seen in a long time.

Everyone knows he's a long shot but he shouldn't be dismissed out of hand. Especially down the road.

Anyone who takes the time to listen to him will see that he's got a hell of a lot more going for himself than just being a nice guy.

to break the mold of either having a high political office or being a leading general in a major war to assume the office. Look how that worked out for us.

Yes, Pete is probably more than just a nice guy, I meant that to say that I don't hold anything against him, but I think we need someone a bit more seasoned to fix the problems that Spanky has gotten us into.

At this point, I think that candidate might well be Joe Biden. If Joe were to say, "I'm only going to serve one term, and then I will turn this over to a bright new face that will benefit from four years of intense training at my side," then he will please a lot of people, and have a chance to go down in US history as one of the best public servants ever.

Restoring the vice-presidency as a training ground for a future President will make it more likely that we hold the White House, and that we will get better governance through that office. I think people might now see the harm in having the presidency as an entry-level political job.

there can be no guarantee that the president would be able to serve for a long enough period of time to allow for the training of which you write.

I think Joe's hale and hearty enough to make it through to 2024, and he can release results of a medical exam to confirm that. No guarantee, to be sure, but probably close enough for us.
