I'm often disgusted by the ads about dating young women from China, Poland, Vietnam or elsewhere. I am a heterosexual elderly woman from Germany*, and I really, really never did any Google-search for things like this. Some ads occuring at DU can be related to my former searches, but most of them do not. Most of the time I'm only lurking in here as I do not have to say anything important for you, and I had difficulties contributing because I don't have a creditcard. So I see all the ads and some of them are really disgusting. For example you get happy-tourist-adds for cities or countries where a catastrophy just occured. You get said ads for "dating" young women when you have words like sex, intercourse or such in the text you are reading. You also get these adds if the google engine just cannot find anything else to offer. So if I did not search anything before looking at DU I have to see the adds of those who pay Google the highest price.
I really like DU, but seriously: the complaint about the adds of that guy in #2 should be considered other than ridiculous.

Ads here are generated from outside and DU has little control over that. I think if an and is especially objectionable, DU can request that it be blocked. But generally, the ad content--even GOP ads that appear here--is beyond the control of DU.

There are ways to block the ads on some computer operating systems. Perhaps your husband knows about that on his computer.

This poll is about the unbelievable idiocy of some republican morons, isn't it? That hatemail #2 surely is disgusting in wording and in spewing hate. But that guy has IMO a point in his criticism. Many here on DU are again and again blasting Republicans for their misogyny and their war on women. And at the same time everyone here who has no possibility to block the ads (or doesn't want to) gets ads with sexy images of young women as if they were some article in a mail order catalogue. The ads are indicating that you can buy those women for your personal use (like "Young Thai (Brazilian, Polish, you name it) girls want to marry an American&quot They pop up the more often the more you read texts about the war on women or abortion or any other subject that is concerning women.
This is also some sort of hypocrisy, isn't it?
We old fighters against male predominance are happy about every man that can realize how these ads are damaging the self-esteem and pride of young women. So I think that guy should not be made fun of.

The raciest one I got was Snorgtees, a woman wearing white underpants and a teeshirt that says "meh."

And a Koch vs. EPA Sierra Club banner, an ad for eyeglasses (why yes, I do wear eyeglasses), a solar ad, ads for power tools, and ads for web publishing tools. I kept clicking and finally google ads had me figured out! I'm a Muslim and they treated me to photos of pretty Muslim women looking for husbands! And, oh my, yes, three of these women were not covering their hair!!!

(Not a fair test, of course. I use an entirely different browser for tumblr and other miscellaneous porn...)

But I don't think you have to go far to see ads for "friends" in your own neighborhood.

When I logged back into DU and clicked the link in "YEAH, SURE YOU WERE GOING TO DONATE." I saw a "We don't like young men! We want You!" ad. How'd that happen? Are these older women looking for women who like power tools, or older men? I don't know.

Personally, I thought the "viral" hate mail was funniest. Who is he planning to infect? What sort of cut and paste job was he planning?

It reminded me of the voice mail left on my company phone years ago. The guy who left the message had said fuck 35 times in various sentences. He also called me a Pennsylvania whore. He got the wrong state as I was born in NJ. LOL

The funniest thing though was before I got to hear the message the next day, I found that it made the rounds of many, many other company phones in all the departments. The message had been left on the department general line as I was not in and one of the weekend staff picked it up and forwarded it to one friend, who passed it on and there you go. Just about the whole company heard it.

I worked in the fraud department of a national corporation and my job was to cut off the fraudsters fraudulent phone lines after determining they were set up fraudulently.

One sales department guy told my co-worker in my department after he had heard the message that we must have dangerous job. There are a lot of nuts out there for sure and ones who also commit crimes.

So we can laugh at these messages but there may be a deranged dangerous person sending them to us. You can't be sure.

Call Me jaded from reading millions of trollmonkey posts on other forums.
Oh sure,if you agree with their delusions of grandeur they hold up as holy virtue then they are lovey-dovey.
But the minute you deviate from the talking points which they have helped spread for the past 32 years then you are every thing but a rich,white,christian male and need to be driven from the herd.
It's Ironic then that they would come here and expect the red carpet treatment for showing us sinners the err of our ways,using hateful and hurtful language that would make a sailor blush,but which is not tolerated in their blathersphere.

I feel that now looking back,visiting the rape-ublican opinion sites has changed me for the better,their ignorant self congratulating piety and unctuousness frequently threatened my cranial aneurism.
I believe that hurricane katrina was the turning point.
Up till then,i thought these people were just misinformed.
Now i think that they have given away their souls in trade for false values from a false god.
Three things motivate these people,greed,hate,and loyalty to the other two motivators.
I wish i could go back and feel the way that i did before,like when i used to mistakenly believe that they were in fact human.
Instead i believe more than ever that Darwin was right and that there really is such a thing as a large brained primate.
Sadly,they walk among us.
I don't hate them any more than i can hate a dog for licking his own balls,which pretty much sums up Freepers and their brethren.
I just don't get my blood pressure up,which my doctor is very relieved about and so now i am not on blood thinners anymore.
I usually do love the hatemail though,keep 'em coming.
