WASHINGTON U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris has hired a top Democratic operative from South Carolina who worked on Hillary Clintons 2016 campaign in the state to lead her 2020 primary operation in the Palmetto State.
Jalisa Washington-Price will be the South Carolina state director for Harris, the campaign announced Friday. She will also take on a national role as the California Democrats deputy political director.
After recently being promoted to chief of staff of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee the partys national campaign arm for the House of Representatives Washington-Price left the role after just two months on the job last week, saying at the time she had a new opportunity that was too good to pass up.
Like several other experienced Democratic operatives from South Carolina, Washington-Price was heavily courted by several presidential candidates looking to add her to their campaign teams. She told The Post and Courier that Harris stood out among the pack.
