He is mediocre and weak. He can't even evade questions in a believable manner!
The Acting AG is demonstrating a complete contempt for the institutions of democracy. He is disgusting.

(2,120 posts)For all that did.
Even if held in criminal contempt (like Holder was) the administration can decide not to prosecute (like Obama did.)
What can the committee do to Whitaker that really matters?
Brawndo
(535 posts)Then we'll have a Constitutional crisis on our hands. As for the DOJ, if all that matters is the Executive branch's opinion, then why is the Mueller investigation allowed to exist? Because they don't want to die on that hill. Whitaker is no where near as safe as Holder was.
dumbcat
(2,120 posts)That's exactly what Pres Obama did to the Repug congress when they didn't prosecute AG Eric Holder after he was held in criminal contempt. They (the Repub congress) were powerless to do anything. Same as now. I don't seem to remember us worrying about any Constitutional crisis when we did it. Why would they?
This will all be forgotten when the next "Constitutional crisis" comes along.
Brawndo
(535 posts)There is broad public support to protect the Mueller investigation against interference from Whitaker/tRump, whereas there was no where near the same level of support for going after Holder. Fast and Furious was GOP BS, protecting the Mueller investigation is something We The People actually care a lot about. Same setting, way different circumstances. The optics look like the Executive branch giving the finger to the Legislative branch and I bet you that's not going to sit well with most Americans. We disagree on this and that's fine, I doubt either of us is a Constitutional scholar. Maybe one of those is on DU and can settle it for us.

(535 posts)Do you think tRump would've hesitated to squash the Mueller investigation if majority public opinion was on his side? It IS a factor, hell even Impeachment is a political act.

(51,608 posts)I think he is better suited for it. Look at his head for Christ's sake. It is a perfect match, in fact he is a walking advertisement for his product.
"...and something called the Masculine Toilet, which is designed to help well-endowed men keep their big ol dicks out of their toilet bowls, according to Mother Jones. Apparently, the standard-sized bowl on your American Standard toilet just doesnt cut it for the wannabe Jon Hamms of the world."
"The average male genitalia is between 5 and 6, a press release for the product reads. However, this invention is designed for those of us who measure longer than that. To solve the pressing dick-in-the-toilet problem, InventVillage.com, the company behind the Masculine Toilet, claims its product allows a full 12 inches of space between the rim of the shitter and the water. Need a toilet bowl with more than a full foot of space? No worries. These penis pros say they can happily create an extra long version if necessary."

(238 posts)I watched the first half hour of the hearings. When Whitaker started answering his first questions from the chairman it was clear Whitaker is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Dumb as a post. Has a few pet phrases memorized and that's it. He's a perfect example of how Trump hires only the best.
