It took six years for the rest of us to notice.

I filed a story last night on how close my local pubbies are to Akin... two out of three are dirt \nails, you get the picture. The story actually might help the third one, on life issues he is a damn moderate.

But if you start looking at who sponsored, voted for what... you will realize just how mainstream Akin and the plank are.

I even suggested people do that for their own reps and local pubbies. THat was met with crickets.

But seriously, Akin is not far out there... he is right in the middle of this policy position.

You could make the argument that the GOP is too extreme, (they are)... but nobody has really paid attention onto how extreme they are on a multiplicity of issues. But they have gotten there on their own, and now we are faced with a party of know nothings where Akin is pretty much the norm.

(And why we have a lot of moderate republicans turning to the Democratic party, because their party left them behind, in the meantime pulling the country to the far right. At this point this is a physics thing.)

but if I had a dollar for every time the GOP's demise was predicted I'd be a rich, rich woman. Just a reminder that we had a Republican president again only 6 measly years after Watergate which had also been predicted to the the GOP's demise.

This is the whole party, the ideology collapsing. I think the republicans are trying to pretend more people are behind them than there really are...like a fake it 'til you make it strategy.

so they've caved to the extremists - which normally I'd think would turn off most people. Especially with the tea party's low approval ratings.

FreedomWorks: "We've definitely taken over the Republican Party."

However, I can't have too much hope in the American people to actually pay attention and know that a vote for the gop is a vote for radical extremists.

Thankfully rubes like Akin bring their real views to light, so there is some hope they'll be held accountable and I think it will definitely energize the Democratic base to GOTV.

Four years from now the demographics change drastically.

I am 29 years old, and my peers in my age group will soon be taking over the country with important positions in business, government, etc.

We are the Millennial generation, and we will change the landscape of this country drastically.

Pro Choice, Pro Gay Rights, etc.
