The National Enquirer and Donald Trump

Back in the 90s, we'd go visit our grandparents every week. They subscribed to the National Enquirer and being in the era before smartphones and such, I would find myself reading it to pass the time when there was nothing else to do.

Donald Trump--back then just a sleazy real estate magnate who couldn't seem to keep his finances liquid and yet still managed to live like a king--was frequently featured in the pages of the Enquirer. However, more often than not most of the stories directed towards him were flattering, far better than most celebrities.

The one thing that stood out most to me, however, wasn't stories about Donald himself but rather his daughter Ivanka. She was merely a preteen at the time, probably 11 or 12, but I remember the Enquirer running stories about how beautiful Ivanka was, how she was going to grow up to be a supermodel or fashion icon, and I just found--even then--it to be rather creepy. As if it was sexualizing her at this young age.

I have to wonder if Donald was help feeding those stories to the Enquirer, knowing now their chummy relationship.

One she is on a bed kissing him; another she is on his lap with her leg wrapped around him, and the one famous one where she's on his lap again, lovingly holding his cheek with a parrot statue of top parrots humping close by - disgusting !! What kind of a MAN poses for pics like that with his daughter?!?! Not much of one.

3. Beyond feeding stories to the Pecker/Enquirer with their cooperation, he fed stories

(without the media outlets' direct complicity/cooperation) to other news outlets using the pseudonyms "John Miller" and "John Barron" who were allegedly spokesmen/PR guys for Trump but sounded and spoke EXACTLY like him, who more often than not lied about the size and price of his buildings, how rich he was, and how many beautiful women were throwing themselves at Trump.

If I recall correctly, there is even at least one existing tape of one such phone call. But I cannot recall when/where I heard it played, other than it was around the election and was on a podcast.

LOL. I used to get my National Enquirer fix at Granny's as well. You have to appreciate Chelsea, who didn't inherit the best features of either parent, but has made the best of the looks she has, just like a regular person (and I've had non-famous friends who availed themselves of new noses, etc.). Chelsea also has a very impressive education; PHD from Oxford, so technically DR. Clinton. All adult Trump kids went to Penn, but except for Tiffany, in law school, were satisfied with undergraduate degrees. Not that this really means much, but just sayin... Jared, to be fair, has a law degree and MBA.
