His wife, Pene, and son, Simon, were by his side.
Having shot to fame as the star of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Finney received five Oscar nominations, but never won, and refused a knighthood.

He had such range as an Actor, always dedicated to the role he played. It was his Tom Jones to John Newton in "Amazing Grace" that displayed that range over the many decades he lit up the screen.

So many solid heavyweights: Albert Finney, Peter OToole, Richard Burton, Alan Bates, Stanley Baker, Richard Harris, Laurence Harvey, Richard Attenborough, Alec Guinness, Tom Courtenay (still among us), Sean Connery (still among us), Terence Stamp (still among us) and Michael Caine (still among us). Barely scratched the surface with this list.
