Democratic Sen. Chris Coons: Trump's border wall is not immoral — it's a piece of infrastructure

Trump's proposed wall along the U.S-Mexico border isn't immoral, Democratic Sen. Chris Coons says.

The border wall is "a piece of infrastructure," he says.

Democratic concerns surround whether the wall will be effective, he adds.

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said Friday that President Donald Trump's proposed wall along the U.S-Mexico border isn't immoral, contrary to what other Democrats have said.

Rather, the border wall is "a piece of infrastructure," the Delaware senator told CNBC's "Squawk Box." "We've already got more than 600, almost 700 hundred miles of border fencing, so-called Normandy barriers, that I think have made a difference."

Coons said he and his Democratic colleagues have previously voted for billions of dollars more in border security as part of broader immigration reform.

His party's concerns this time surround whether Trump's $5.7 billion vision for a wall will be effective, he said. "The larger question is how should we most efficiently and effectively spend billions of dollars more."

Say dems get 3 trillion for infrastructure and give Trump 1 billion for wall. Or let him build the wall for Green jobs and a billionaire tax.

Is his constituents calling him to express how scared they are???

He should consider carefully what he is doing, because the "wall" is a danger to ALL living things!!!

Bannon and Prince were feverishly working on a privatizing scheme to build The Wall. Don't know whether that's merely rumor or a real thing but chucking up money (and 5.6 billion is a fraction of what this sucker would cost) for any Trumpster enterprise is an invitation for corruption and fraud.

I wouldn't trust the man with a $20 bill. And with this sort of money? All the cockroaches come out to play.
