(7,142 posts)lifetime service. Trump will go to his death bed never realizing that the only way to get anything out of life is by giving.

(779 posts)With all of the above comments, what a lovely man he was. And what a lovely tribute from Obama, we really lost not one but two national treasures from our government.
I hope President Obama will have a place in our lives for a long time to come.
God bless them both.

(10,126 posts)that we hear from President Obama or President Carter at moments like this.
They're reminding proof that we can do so much better.
Didn't know Dingell was a page on the floor when Roosevelt gave his Day of Infamy speech. Incredible how much history he witnessed and was a part of. Maybe they should call single payer DingellCare.
People like Donald Trump don't make America great. People like John Dingell do.

(15,540 posts)I just love how at the top of the message it says "Statement from President Barack Obama". Makes me believe that he is still our leader, which in many ways he is.
While typing this I could hear my TV blasting some nonsense from Good Morning America that, next up would be an interview with Ivanka Trump about some new "initiative" (aka grifting probably) of hers. Almost broke my toe getting off the chair to mute the TV quickly.

(527 posts)I know it will be gracious, thoughtful and intelligent. I miss him being the President and representing our country. He was a leader I could hold out to my grandkids to emulate.

(10,011 posts)We have gone from real class, intelligence, and generosity to utter sleaze, greed, and open criminality. Melania sometimes gets a pass because her husband is so awful, but its obvious that she is just as greedy and criminal. When she wore that jacket with the sentence I really dont care, do you?, I interpreted it to mean that she does not care about her husbands policies that hurt other people, including small children, she does not care about anything but being rich, and she does not care about doing anything useful as First Lady. Quite a contrast to our former First Lady, who won our hearts with her kindness, energy to do good things, and unswerving grace in the face of constant criticism from the right wing.
