John Roberts joins courts liberals to help block restrictive abortion law

Is he slowly turning into a justice Souter?

WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court stopped Louisiana from enforcing new regulations on abortion clinics in a test of the conservative court's views on abortion rights.

The justices said by a 5-4 vote late Thursday that they will not allow the state to put into effect a law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court's four liberals in putting a hold on the law, pending a full review of the case.

include in "a full review of the case"? Is there anyway SCOTUS conservatives could use this issue as a back door to re-litigating Roe vs Wade? I don't try to predict which way he will swing.

This was just the Supreme Court deciding whether to let the Louisiana law be in effect until a full review could be conducted. It's a mug's game trying to predict Supreme Court rulings. But it is often the case that by keeping the law from taking effect in the interim, the Court is signaling that it will overturn the law.

Apparently Justice Boof wanted the law to go into effect to see if it would actually make it harder for women to get full access to health care. You know, nothing serious. Not like keeping Boof from his beer. He likes beer, you know.
