The children are our future. However...

Do not throw the elders away as to old and irrelevant. We have been fighting for your lives for years.

We birthed you and nurtured you. We taught you right from wrong. We have hit so many roadblocks along the way and still we rose for you. Every time since the suffragettes fought, the Edmund Pettus bridge, Bloody Sunday, where they marched and were beaten and a woman that took a seat in a bus, we were fighting for your future. A baby girl named Ruby walked to school along side a Marshall to protect her because she dared to be educated in a desegregated school. She was a baby, do you have a clue what she endured?

In March 2015, on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, U.S. President Barack Obama, the first African-American U.S. president, delivered a speech at the foot of the bridge and then, along with other U.S. political figures such as former U.S. President George W. Bush and Representative John Lewis and Civil Rights Movement activists such as Amelia Boynton Robinson (at Obama's side in a wheelchair), led a march across the bridge. An estimated 40,000 people attended to commemorate the 1965 march, and to reflect on and speak about its impact on history and continuing efforts to address and improve U.S. civil rights.[17]

Amelia Boylton nearly lost her life to give you what you have today. The freedom to run. To give you a voice.

I am seeing to many people today telling those of us that have fought for you for years to just step aside. No. Sorry. You work with the men and women that fought for you or fail. We do it together.

We are the World. We are the People.

A rising tide lifts ALL boats. Somebody great said that. Though it's frequently used as a reference to economic status, it's applicable in discussions of ageism, as well.

You are correct. The tide is the people and we rise together or not at all.

UAW Sit-down strike in Flint

The company turned off the heat. In January. In Michigan.

The company prevented food deliveries.

The company brought in goons. Shots were fired. Strikers were injured.

They stood strong.

They prevailed.

Without the past, there would be no future.

Thank you, she.

appreciatively,
Bright

our youth are disregarding and not consulting the older folks throughout society on much of anything.

Everyone knows everything about everything nowadays 'cause they got internet. And, that's exactly the way right-wingers want it so they can then control our society.

Not only does this sweep valuable knowledge and history under the rug, it's also depressing and destructive to us older folks.

Thanks for the great OP...... ........
