Tweet: What's really frightening about the National Enquirer and Bezos....

This is a “textbook example of blackmail and extortion” and “shows how frightening it should be to the citizens of the United States that the National Enquirer reportedly has a safe full of information about the president of the United States.”

regarding a politician or high official ~cough~ Trump ~cough~ being in danger of being blackmailed by a foreign entity like Russia or KSA.

I think that many, who don't follow the news closely, don't think about/can't conceive of the idea that holding embarassing (or proof of illegal behavior) information could lead to blackmail - not for $$ but for acting on behalf of the blackmailing entitity's interest over the national interest. But the owner of Amazon (which is a very familiar company) - and his story might catch their attention. And perhaps, just perhaps, give a realtime example. In a story that is directly related to the President, or at least an entitiy already proven to "protect" the President.

to think he would cower under threat of exposing his private texts.

Wrong! This is surreal!

to hold over his opponents. You just know that's what caused Lindsey Graham to do his 180° spin. No doubt Trump's Republican enablers are up to their ears in rubles, but a bunch of them probably also fear what he has on them even more than they fear his rabid base. Maybe felling Pecker's blackmail operation will free a few of them up.
