Legislation would get rid of tampon tax

By Allison Newman

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) New legislation would get rid of the 6% sales tax on feminine hygiene products in Michigan.

State representatives introduced two bills in the House Thursday that exempt things like tampons and sanitary pads.

Right now, 10 states do not tax those kinds of products including New York, Florida and Nevada.

We will let you know if the bills move through the House.

It's about damned time. I've always thought taxing these products were just another way of penalizing us for "Eve eating the apple" or some such bullshit. I really hope they wake up and stop taxing women for crap like this.
