Are people coming into our country across the southern border really a problem?

There seems to be a general consensus that there is an immigration crisis along the southern border. The only question is what is the best way to deal with the problem. But is it really a problem? The only statistic I could find is that there is more crime committed by native born Americans than from immigrants. Are immigrants (legal or illegal) coming across the southern border a problem, are they beneficial to the American economy, or is it a wash?

Just looking for ammunition for arguing with conservative friends.

the Canuk's bitch when we would invade their back yards during the Summer months or for that part, during Snowmobile Season. They used to love all that Yankee Green Backs spent at the local Package Store.

and often they are fleeing from situations that our nation put in motion.

Frankly, we need to forget about a wall and build a gateway (or several). Imagine, a place where there are places for people to stay, workers to help them get through the process, a school for the kids while applications are in process and a whole lot of caseworkers to facilitate things.

We can do this.
