(42,862 posts)I honestly can't remember the last time I held or spent a $50 note, and I wouldn't have been able to tell you who was on a $50 without phoning-a-friend.
Matthew Collier is mistaken by thinking that a higher denomination honors her more. I think that the bigger honor is when more people SEE and touch and hold and spend the note with her image.

(34,115 posts)She was my first Shero. I did a book report in grade school and I have never let go of her. I almost would rather she be on the twenty because more people see them than 50's. I am not broke but I rarely see a 50 dollar bill. I want everyone to see her, to ask about her, to read about her and think about what she and many others like her did. Then think about why it had to be done. We cannot let them forget this.
I adore her and really hope to see this one day. It could be a regular picture of her, she was something else and you can see it in her tired eyes, but I have to admit that I do love the picture you posted here.

(25,586 posts)I say he stays. The most common bill most of us carry is a $20, so thats where Tubman should be.
Of course, the fact that cash is virtually moribund does rather make the whole issue meaningless.

(2,624 posts)I have several friends who refuse to carry $20 bills. It's a huge pain in the ass for them, since that's what ATM's spit out, but they are totally willing to put up with all the extra work and hassle.
That said, getting some Tubmans in my wallet can't happen soon enough!
