Northams med school to hold news conference on its probe of yearbook photos
Richmond Times-Dispatch 1 hr ago
Eastern Virginia Medical School will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. today to discuss its probe into what it termed unacceptable photos in the student yearbook.
Gov. Ralph Northams page in the medical schools 1984 yearbook included a photo of one man in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe. Northam, under cascading calls that he resign, initially apologized, saying he was one of the men in the photo, then backtracked Saturday, saying he was not in the photo.
The school has retained Richard Cullen, a senior partner at McGuireWoods, to lead a probe into the schools past and present culture surrounding race.
Cullen is a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and a former attorney general of Virginia.

(1,660 posts)1. Ridiculous. The school knew it was there. They probably have black face, kkk, and Confederate
Photos in nearly every yearbook. I read they only stopped Confederate propaganda being used in their yearbooks in 2013. And that is disturbing since doctors are supposed to be in a helping profession. How can a black patient trust you have their best interest at heart when you think the kkk or blackface is hilarious. This mockery is done to dehumanize black people.

I hope that we will learn about their findings regarding their past history.

The phone lines have probably been hot and heavy between his csmp and the school since this scandal broke.
Too bad they can't hide all the balckface and confederate flag photos in all the previous and even recent yearbooks.
It was just discontinued in 2013 becasue of the racist photos in it.
