This is worth a read. Article: "Mar-a-Lago: Where Donald Trump learned to be king."

There is a new book about this period in Trump's life and Salon interviewed the author. It shows how Trump is still operating the same way as he did back then. It sheds some new insights on how he developed his "style" and brought that to the presidency. But "king" doesn't really work when you can't buy--or lie or sue your way out of a tight spot.

...In fact, the way Trump interacts at Mar-a-Lago, which he still visits as a weekend escape from the White House, give us incredible insight into the type of guy Trump is in Washington, and what may be his ultimate undoing as president. Leamer explains how the famously insecure Trump bought Mar-A-Lago in a desperate effort to be accepted by the Palm Beach upper crust, hoping it would don him “the king of Palm Beach.” But in the same way that Queens-born Trump failed in his quest to be accepted by the Manhattan elite, the old money of Palm Beach looked down on tacky Trump.

I've got so many awesome books to read now. For example I'm in the middle of Kamala Harris' new book "The Truths We Hold" and I can't put it down. I try to keep up with the Democratic/liberal/progressive writers and it's about all I can manage. Biographies of Trump are way low on my list, even though it's great to see that the author slices & dices him.

The property itself (Mar-A-Lago) was built by Marjorie Merriweather Post, heiress to the General Foods fortune.

Many of the Palm Beach "Upper Crust" as they say, were historically the types of people that owned the large homes in Newport, Rhode Island or The Hamptons on Long Island as well as a winter place in Palm Beach.

As Comedian Chris Rock once said, "We're talking about the kind of people who own the color Blue"!

Trump was, is now and will always be a rube from Queens, an ignorant, uncultured, con man and the wealthy of New York, New England and Palm Beach have seen RIGHT through him for decades.

Edited to add this BTW;

We have all probably heard or read this already, but Trump DESPERATELY wants to be thought of as one of, and to be accepted by those people, and it is reflected in many of the things he has done over the years, from trying to buy an NFL team (The other owners would have none of it) to starting a competing league to spite them (it failed) to buying golf courses and country clubs. It apparently irks him to no end that those wealthy types shun him for the most part.

He looks at being the president as the ultimate revenge, but he is showing just how truly ignorant and uncultured he really is with every utterance and every action he performs in that office.

The only thing he’s ever done well is manage the media for his own self promotion. And that’s all he’s still doing.

we called the Old Money Folks of Florida and New England,the White Shoe Crowd. Had a Coffee Broker acquaintance from New York who always said,if you don't have a pedigree,you ain't one of us. So true yet today.
