Rep. Steve King: Taxpayers pay for millions of abortions a year

The taxpayer thing is a lie, of course.

But more to the point, there has never been a year when millions of abortions were performed in America. Never.

According to the CDC, abortions in the US peaked around 1990 at roughly 1.4 million. The current number is fairly stable at a little over a million/year. (The Guttmacher Institute numbers that anti-choicers prefer are higher, but also never reach 2 million—peaking at 1.6 million in 1990 and currently about 1.2 million)

When someone whose world revolves around his obsession with abortion does even have the faintest idea how many abortions there are it says a lot.
