The US government is moving heavy construction equipment onto land belonging to the National Butterfly Center to work on the border wall. See https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/article/border-wall-work-starts-at-national-butterfly-center/ar-BBTau85. This started yesterday.
Here is some of the story:
The Trump administration is waiving 28 environmental laws to build the wall. Defenders of Wildlife sued the Trump administration in November saying the government doesnt have the authority to waive those acts.
On ExpressNews.com:Border wall will not hinder access to National Butterfly Center, agency says
A Customs and Border Protection news release published on the centers Facebook page confirms that heavy machinery may be seen entering the Rio Grande Valley as early as Monday in preparation for the levee wall system.
The equipment will be utilized for construction on federally owned land, it reads.
But Burnett and Marianna Wright, executive director of the center, dispute that any of the Butterfly Centers land is federally owned yet.

(149,699 posts)I love love love butterflies.
And to see their refuge torn up for this criminal enterprise of a wall hurts more than I thought possible.
THESE CRIMINALS MUST BE STOPPED.
