I want REAL-TIME fact-checking during the SOTU speech! Networks can use the bottom of the screen (the area normally used for scrolling headlines and "breaking" headlines).
The text of the speech is generally given to news outlets before the speech, so a team of a dozen readers/researchers can each be given a page to fact-check and have the "pop-up" facts ready to go and synchronized to appear on-screen at the exact moment he tells a lie.
Is that too much to ask?

(115,836 posts)on one of his loony rants, those lies have already been fact checked and could easily be added to the chyron.

(17,984 posts)I learned that word a few weeks ago by reading it here on DU.
Or they could have a split screen. The other screen can be occupied by...wait for it...RACHEL!

(42,862 posts)Or, do it MOSTLY live, but give Rachel the pause button on the virtual DVR so that she can interject and make corrections as needed.

(3,256 posts)I stll wouldn't watch it unless I was paid a lot of dough. In my opinion any one who does is feeding the beast.

Sherman A1
(38,958 posts)Perhaps more easily accomplished, but not near as likely.

(10,749 posts)How about broadcasting it on a 15-minute delay? There's probably not a law that says it has to be live.

Can we get some Dems at the SOTU to hold up small signs with that plea every time Mango Mussolini prevaricates ?
Pelosi, sitting right behind him, would be best but I doubt she'd go for it.

Now they're coming for the (black) Lt. Gov.

(22,572 posts)The networks could put an asterisk in a corner of the screen so as not to interrupt the speech, but to let the viewer know that more information is coming about that point.

(2,550 posts)for the chyron not functioning.
The program that 'drives' it across the screen has overheated.
We hope to use some household fans to help with the existing cooling configuration.
Thanks for your patience.

Electric shock when he lies - a 'hamberder' if he tells the truth.
(Either way, he'd be dead in a few days. )
