February 4, 2019 at 7:26 am EST By Taegan Goddard
Said Cliff Sims, author of Team of Vipers: There are leaks, and then there are leaks. If most are involuntary manslaughter, this was premeditated murder. People inside are genuinely scared.
Maggie Haberman: A White House aide is weaponizing his schedules, which says a lot about how people in the White House feel about the man they work for.

(25,111 posts)leaks saturates the WH from day one. What I want to hear that the staff at the WH are ready to oust the shithole.
Like this has not been something we have known since day 2 of this POS being at 1600 Pa?

(11,878 posts)If MF45 is an incurious lazy idiot, who spends 60% of his work days goofing off.( and he is)..WHO IS RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT?
Who is doing the actual work of presidenting, because, given the 12 to 16 hours a day put in by Barack Obama...I have been led to believe that this job requires all of ones' time and attention. Who is doing the heavy lifting?
i am certain it is no one that the people have elected. Is. it Jared... Stephen Miller, Ivanka...WHO?

(14 posts)They are hollowing out the government from the inside. Obviously trying to get federal workers to quit in droves or scare potential workers into never applying. One of Bannons goals was to tear it all down. This is what that looks like. What does the shutdown look like if it were orchestrated by a known Russian agent ?

It would require a surrogate for the reporter, one who is already part of the inner circle or near by in order to succeed. My fantasy has a Mossad like agent able and willing to save this country step in for an intervention. Nothing violent, just a pro at counter intelligence and sneaking it out of the WH.

(6,933 posts)Have we not seen the incompetence? Nobody is performing the job of president, half of the appointed positions remain unfilled.
That's how anarchists tear down a government from the inside.
There is nobody running the U.S. Government, it is a ship without a rudder, burning fuel and drifting.
And even when Trump is in the office he's tearing down the government by withdrawing from climate change treaties and nuclear missiles treaties.
100% of the time Trump and his henchmen are working to break the U.S. Government.

(23,156 posts)This is PUtin's plan, drumpf is just in place to implement it. That's why he's so determined about the wall, it's not about the base, it's about Russian steel. He has to buy tons of (probably defective) Russian steel from DEripaska, so he will declare a national emergency, place the order for the steel within minute of doing that, then he doesn't care if the courts stop it, the steel will be bought and they won't issue a refund and he's off the hook. Now he may also shutdown the government as well, he is that hate filled and vicious, but hopefully he won't because it will be bad for him and his party and he knows it. Guess it comes down to which is more important, fucking over our Federal workers and subcontractors and our nation's economy or having Repugs elected and re-elected.
dhol82
(9,353 posts)Makes sense.
Possibly also with complicit politicians who are controlled with Russian dirty money.
McTurtle is just as ethically and legally compromised with Deripaska as drumpf is and is colluding as hard as he can to block this information from being acted on. I pray Mueller has him in his sights for at least campaign finance and conspiracy charges.

(16,646 posts)Quite honestly, even in a highly engaged administration, it is the cabinet that "runs the government". The White House is the "crossing guard" that settles disputes and gives directions. But the actual job of "running" the government is done by the cabinet. In the absence of direction, they'll just act. There are exceptions of course like signing legislation, declaring emergencies, making appointments, etc. It's why I pay as much attention to whom presidents appoint and hire as to what they say. It's why Arne Duncan was such a disappointment.
MyOwnPeace
(16,937 posts)It is those that surround the president that form and guide what happens. In that process certain ones move to the front of the group.
I also liked your comment about Arne. PRESIDENT OBAMA's work/leadership in education was my biggest disappointment in his administration.

(12,344 posts)Cabinet heads and civil servants will just do what they think best without the President. It's what used to happen in the Middle Ages when the King was insane. This makes the government weak and messy, especially in a crisis, but hopefully we will muddle through.

It's too hard to use diplomacy in South America. It's too hard to work on defusing violence in the middle east. It's too hard because there's no one in charge who wants to address the everyday governance. Trumpy is watching TV.

(959 posts)Dump wanted Kasich or someone like him, to do the actual presidenting while he wrote scripts and did photo ops for his reality presidency. Since he couldn't get Kasich or even Christie in there to do the actual work, it fell on Bannon and such. Those guys hit the bricks long ago as well. So all that's left is his incompetent kin, and Miller. Bet your ass that's who's in charge. Because Dump has no clue; he thinks this is all a reality show.

The GOP simply refuses to relinquish their political power, as it is they who elevated Trumpy to the White House. They could have shut him down before the primaries, but they wanted to ride his bombastic coattails into dominance and increase the wealth of the wealthy. It's was a Faustian bargain and they've yet to pay a fraction of the cost.
When experts are saying that Trumpy is unteachable, or is incapable of learning new information, THAT'S A CLEAR SIGN OF DEMENTIA. That's what happens to people when they have cognitive decline!
So millions of us have our hair on fire, while the politicians and pundits are repeating the words, "unprecedented", "unusual", "not normal", etc. But those words are impotent. It means nothing without action.

It's clear that she has no respect for this cretin, but she was hired primarily to be his chief media rep. Insofar as that goes, she does her job. It's laughable, but somebody's got to do it, and she must be being well compensated to keep drivel coming, but behind the scenes, she's got a long knife drawn. And while she's (probably) undermining him and leaking to the press on the down low, her husband is blatantly criticizing Shitler on Twitter. It seems to me that she's no happier with this idiot than her husband is.

(10,749 posts)For Sims: What does it mean that the people inside are genuinely scared? Scared for their jobs? Scared that their boss will bomb China? Scared that he'll actually start working? More details.
For Haberman: Okay, how do the people in the WH feel about trump? No one wants to be quoted. I get that. But some specifics comments would bee welcome. He's insane. I'm terrified. He's breaking things. He's throwing dishes. I'm concern about my future job prospects. Details.
These sort of off the cuff remarks are just not enough. It's just lazy journalism.
Haberman: Do your fucking job and fuck access to trump. You're a coward.
Sims: You've burned your bridges. Why stop now. Details.

(1,220 posts)He lied even if the truth was more beneficial to his goals. He just wanted to control the narrative so he could control the workplace. These types are not usually very bright. That's the other reason they want to control reality. They know they can't measure up to the competition.
I used to drive him nuts. I knew how to handle his type. Incongruously belittle these fools and they have no idea how to react. They just melt into tiny puddles of what they truly are - and those tiny puddles, they don't smell very good.
It was so exhausting I finally found another job. But not before leaving a parting shot from which he's very likely still recovering.
If I could get a job in the trump White House, I'd have that fool drooling on the Oval Office carpet within a week. That's what I didn't understand about all those heroes like Kelly and Mattis, etc. How could they allow a clown like trump to control them and publicly humiliate them?
Then I realized. They're pubicans. And you can NEVER trust a pubican. The entire pubican party has proven that point over and over again. Especially since the advent of trump and the magats who they are enabling and supporting.
If you support a traitor you are a traitor.
This thought keeps me awake at night. Literally. Mueller is a pubican too.

(6,831 posts)"Mueller is a pubican too." for us ?
Because you provide no support for that comment, there's no logic to follow. Your assertion, in light of all that has transpired, doesn't hold up.
DirtEdonE
(1,220 posts)Quite simple. Mueller is a pubican. And my golden rule is; never trust a pubican.

(1,220 posts)I'm just pointing out that you can NEVER trust a pubican. And Mueller is a pubican.
What's taking him soooooo long? If I had his power and I had airtight evidence we had a traitor in the White House and traitors throughout the GOP I can guarantee you I'd have done SOMETHING by now.
Sorry to burst your bubble but it's best not to expect anything. That way you won't ever be disappointed.
Mueller is a pubican just like Fishman was a pubican and he let chris christie off the hook like he was an endangered species instead of the pure felon he is.
Haggis for Breakfast
(6,831 posts)Mueller has been indicting people left and right. Many of them - when confronted with what Mueller had on them - plead guilty. Some of them are now in jail and more are headed there.
Expectations ? I'd say that Bob Mueller has been exceeding expectations. And he isn't done yet.
Comparing him with Fishman is folly at best, foolish at worst.
