trump is still president. McConnell is still a scumbag. Another shut down is very possible.
Aside from the most important part of the Northam situation - that no press conference, no apology is going to erase the hurt and pain to so many (and bravo and kudos to the many eloquent posts written on DU in that regard) - the way he is "handling it" ensures the shit storm will continue and other real ongoing issues will be shoved off the spotlight.
I have no doubt we here, and people, can keep track of more than one thing at a time...but I don't think that the media can, and we know that the right wing will make it this and only this.
Whoever is giving Northam advice - whoever came up with the idea that staying in and "fighting" this is in any way a good idea for anyone - yikes.
That news conference should have been an apology, and a statement of stepping down. Period.
