Parents of girl electrocuted playing miniature golf sue resort

The family of an 11-year-old girl electrocuted while playing miniature golf sued Orange Lake Resorts Tuesday for her wrongful death and asked for more than $27 million in damages.

The lawsuit, filed in Orange-Osceola Circuit Court, alleges the time-share resort in southwest Orange County negligently repaired and modified electrical components in the pond where Ashton Jojo was electrocuted while reaching in for her ball on June 27.

The lawsuit also seeks damages for her parents' and 14-year-old brother's emotional distress. David and Deborah Jojo of Latham, N.Y., and their son Donovan were nearby and rushed to the water hazard where another resort guest was trying to rescue Ashton.

He, too, received a jolt of electricity but survived.

This is a damn shame and easily avoidable by hiring qualified electrical workers. But this is a right to work state and this is what you get. Deplorable. I hope this family get every cent they're asking for.
