He is going to say some miscreants went into the Hot Tub Time Machine and forced him to take that photo and put it on his yearbook page.

It seems like someone who was a student during that time could explain what was going on with those photos. Did they have school events where people dressed like this or what?

My take - he says soemthing to the effect of "If I go away this is just a story that is prohibitive but doesn't really change anything. Let's talk about race and racism. I changed. I learned (add in some Christian stuff here) and we all can learn. We have incidents like this and nothing comes of it. So since I only have one term let's use the next 3 years to be the beginning of having the conversation. My place is set. I will never live this down but I'm willing to take the slings and arrows if that helps us really look at each other and ourselves"

That I think would be the best way he could handle this and frankly we really need to have that conversation.

Which I am not sure would lend itself to the statement you are suggesting.

Whether he was in the pic doesn't matter. He chose that as one of 4 to represent himself.

I was just thinking what the coms PR people might come up with.

He's not nearly as important enough to risk alienating our most important constituency over. Hell, a Democratic president couldn't survive this.
