The whole thing is shut down!

Todd Akin misspoke when he said that women who are victims of “legitimate rape” don’t get pregnant because their bodies have a way of “shutting that whole thing down”.
What he meant to say was when MEN are assaulted by legitimate FACT, their MINDS have a way of “shutting that whole thing down”. It’s a bad place to be when your ideology demands that raped women need to be punished twice. It’s an uncomfortable position to be in! Do you expect a man to just “relax and enjoy it”? (Clayton Williams recommendation about rape, comparing it to bad weather. I could say that was stupid advice about climate also, but I won’t, today). It’s easier just to change the fact about rape/pregnancy, and invent a biology that prevents such a thing, since real biology didn’t, and since theology didn’t either.
Certain minds come equipped with multiple barriers to impregnation with facts, from abstinence (avoiding reading actual data on the subject), to barrier methods (preventing advocates of reproductive rights from getting into your office), to oral contraceptives (speaking only with “doctors” who tell you that women don’t get pregnant from “legitimate” rape). I think the scientific term for all this is “hysterical pregnancy of the mind.”
