The UK’s Home Office .. pointed to Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan's statement in Parliament in June last year, in which he said Assange was in the embassy “of his own choice.”

There were reports a few weeks ago that the Ecuadorian embassy officials were punishing Assange for his lack of personal hygiene by taking away his internet privileges until he showered and cleaned up his 'digs'.
